POLICIES
CONDUCT
All library patrons are
expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is respectful of the
normal activities and functions of the Law Library, its staff, and of
other patrons. Users who fail to comply with library policy will
be asked to leave.
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
The law library is open to the public during its regular business hours,
8:00-4:00, Monday-Friday and closed to the public daily from the hours
of 12:00-1:00. Please sign in with the librarian upon arrival.
No fee is charged to members of the general public for access to the law
library. Our space is limited and serves also as a conference room
for attorneys and witnesses for the courts. Due to the
confidential nature of these meetings members of the public will be
asked to step outside during these times.
REFERENCE SERVICES
The Ashland County Law Library staff, as a service to its patrons,
provides reference services and information. Books may not be
removed from the library by the public. Library staff members do
not interpret the law, provide legal advice, or explain court
procedures. The information provided is not a substitute for legal
advice from a licensed attorney.
AFTER HOURS USE
Use of the library after hours is permitted to members of the Ashland
County Bar Association only.
FOOD AND DRINKS
The public is not allowed to bring either food or drinks into the
library.
MOBILE PHONES AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES are permitted in the library.
As a courtesy to other patrons please set your device to beep or vibrate
mode.
CHILDREN
Children below the age of 16 are not allowed in the library.
Children above the age of 16 must be accompanied by and supervised by an
adult. All patrons are expected to follow the library's rules of
conduct.
COMPUTERS
Public visitors are not allowed to use the library's computers.
DISCRETION OF THE LAW LIBRARIAN
No policy can address all potential circumstances. The Law
Librarian reserves the right to address issues on a case by case basis,
including, but not limited to disruptive and harassing behavior,
requests for privileges and use of facilities.
